Pregnant? Not Pregnant? Opinions?
I posted this earlier today, but I am hoping that with different people online today I can get more opinions…
Here’s the timeline…
Aug. 20th - LMP
Sept. 1st - ooops… didn’t use a condom (CD 13)
Sept. 2nd - started noticing CM (CD 14)
Sept. 10th - CD 22 - tested, negatice (too early, I know)
Sept. 13th - CD 25 - tested, negative (still too early)
Sept. 16th - CD 28 - tested at home (w/ first morning urine), positive; confirmation test at OB, negative
So, today is Day 28 of my cycle. I haven’t missed a period yet. I am usually 28-32 days, but have been as late as 36 days.
This morning, using first morning urine, I got a positive on a home pregnancy test.
I went to the doctor a few hours later, and it was negative. She said that their tests aren’t sensitive enough to detect the pregnancy hormone until the missed period is a week late.
Is it too early to detect the pregnancy? Was I just lucky in getting the positive since FMU is usually more concentrated? I am going back for another urine test at the doctor’s next week, and they will not order a blood test at this point. The nurse said that it’s too early.

The pregnancy test at the doctor's office was another urine test. I didn't see an OB, but rather a nurse. I asked about a blood test, and she said they wouldn't order one because it was too early.
I have only receive one positive test, but I have already planned to take another HPT in the morning. I am just looking for some opinions, and yes some reassurance, tonight.

Umm sounds like you are pregnant, and blood tests should have been ordered, when you are this early, the blood test is more reliable. I had an positive blood test and my hcg was at a level of 14, hcg doubles everyday in early pregnancy so I was literally days pregnant. I found out through a blood test for accutane and I had no thought of pregnancy in my mind, I didn’t believe it so i went right to wally’s and bought an hpt, and it was negative, I used morning urine as well. days later i went to my ob with my dermatologist’s report and yep andother blood test from her showed my blood count at 1200, I was mos def pregnant. insist on a blood test, its not too early. but I think your pregnant.

I would try another HPT within a day or two… I’m not really sure what to make of the results…
You should go to that site, peeonastick.com (I think is the site) because it talks about false readings and things…

Preggers! Same thing happened with my 2 year old. Home test with first morning urine was positive, but negative at the docs first time. My doc rechecked a week later and it was positive.

i would bet its safe to say that your pregnant considering you have gotten several positive hpt’s its harder to get a false positive than a false negative. i used the same test you did last week on the day of my missed period and it came back positive but i waited and took three more tests during the week and after 4 tests i went to doc and i am 5 weeks (was 4 weeks when i went to doc). so i would wait a week and then go to doc for another test. i waited a week and it showed up at the docs office. good luck and congrats!

It’s definitely positive. Go back in a week to your doc and get another blood test. It should come up positive by then.

Did they use another urine test, or did they draw blood and run a beta HCG? If it was urine, they probably have a substandard (read, cheap) kind. Go to another doctor or ask your doctor to draw your blood and run the labs.
