Pregnancy Timeline – Week 9
You might start to find clothes tight now as you continue to put on weight. It is important that your weight gain in your pregnancy timeline is continuous and gradual. Any sudden gains or losses should be reported to your healthcare professional as soon as possible. Your doctor or healthcare professional will be monitoring your weight during your monthly visits. Keeping up with your exercise regime is very important.
Your uterus should be around the size of a grapefruit by week 9 so many of you will be purchasing maternity clothes around this time. The selections are huge and wonderful these days. If you are on a budget aim for clothing that will last the whole pregnancy. Op shops or charity shops have extremely cheap clothing if you don’t mind second hand stuff. The other bonus of op shops is that there is usually only one of each item so you have less chance of seeing someone else in ‘your’ outfit.
Your precious baby is now around 0.90 inch or 2.3cm. His or her weight is about 0.7oz or 2 grams and is around the size of a grape. The arms and legs continue to grow and the arms are now curving over the torso but not yet touching. The fingers are still developing and if you could see them, the ends would be out of proportion. Toes are also developing. The eye is starting to form a retina and eyelids will almost cover the eye. As the neck develops, it allows the head to be more erect instead of curved. Tiny ears are showing externally and some movement will be visible on an ultrasound. You now have a tiny person who looks almost human inside you.
As you begin to show your pregnancy, why not start taking photos of you growing tummy for your journal. It will be a visual pregnancy timeline for your baby in later life. Don’t you wish your mother had done this when she was pregnant with you?
